Job summary

The job will provide support to registered nurses and the multi-professional team. Excellent communication skills and clerical skills are essential. Individuals should be committed, motivated and compassionate to complement the existing team. Main duties of the job

Principle Duties and Responsibilities1. Assisting the patient with eating and drinking.2. Completing and maintaining food hygiene competence in order to assist in the preparation and distribution of patient food.3. Assisting the patient with bathing, toileting and dressing.4. Assisting the patient with catheter and stoma care.5. Performing, recording and reporting baseline observations e.g. temperature, pulse, blood pressure, routine urine testing.

6. Removal of IV cannula/NG tube once no longer required.7. Undertake inpatient BM monitoring ensuring a registered nurse checks the result.8. Undertake the dressings of non complex wounds.9. Escorting patients/relatives.10. Weighing and measuring patients.11. Receiving and directing patients and visitors.12. Responding to telephone enquires and taking messages.13. In the absence of the ward clerk:filing, form filling, photocopying.

14. Stock monitoring and routine ordering of ward supplies.15. Unpacking and storing ward supplies.16. Disposing of ward waste appropriately17. Cleaning and storage of ward equipment.18. Tidying and ad hoc cleaning of spillages.19. Responsibility to provide accurate reports to a registered nurse both verbally and electronically.20. Responsibility for the compliance with CCC Infection Control policies and procedures.21. Responsibility with another member of staff to record and ensure safe storage of patient valuables on admission and if death occurs.
