Job summary

In partnership with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Teenage Cancer Trust a Teenage and Young Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist. The aim of this role is to provide age appropriate care and support to Teenagers and Young Adults (TYAs), who are diagnosed with cancer across the Cheshire and Merseyside region and are receiving treatment by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

This is a very exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and expert team, and lead the way in providing provision of TYA cancer care through collaborative working and shared commitment to young people with cancer.

Main duties of the job

The role will work with 16-24 year olds that are diagnosed with cancer. A cancer diagnosis at this age can be an incredibly difficult thing for young people to cope with and this role will help to ensure that young people have access to the very best possible support. You will be expected to form effective working relationships with site specific professionals across the network. These relationships will be key in allowing you to work with teenagers and young adults at the earliest possible opportunity. Your involvement will ensure that all young people are provided with appropriate choices with regards to treatment and where that treatment is delivered.

Your role as a key worker will see you supporting young people and those around them, from the point of diagnosis through to the end of treatment and beyond. You will also be a key point of support if palliative care is required. You will help to facilitate that all aspects of a young person's life are considered alongside the diagnosis and treatment. This will help to ensure that the best possible age appropriate care is delivered.

As a registered nurse, you will be an experienced practitioner with knowledge, skills and experience of working with Teenagers and Young Adults within a healthcare setting. You will also have several years of experience of working within cancer care and be able to demonstrate experience of independent working.
