Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) are offering a 16-month fixed-term full-time Band 7 role (£43,742 - £50,056) with the opportunity for hybrid working; at home and/or with days in our offices on the Wirral and/or in Liverpool City Centre.

We are looking for an individual with excellent impactful influencing and management skills who can manger and deliver project objectives.

About us

The Cancer Alliance provides system oversight and co-ordination for cancer services through collaboration with partners with the aims of improving outcomes for patients and improving performance against key operational standards.

The Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance Workforce Programme is looking to lead the delivery of the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan (LTWP) ambitions for the cancer workforce across our local system.

LTWP has set out a strategic direction for the long term, as well as concreteand pragmatic action to be taken locally, regionally and nationally in the short to medium term. To address current workforce challenges. Those actions fall into three clear priority areas: Train, Retain, Reform.

To enable the Cancer Alliance to lead the way forward and deliver the best cancer outcomes for our population we need to expand our team. Working with established clinical leadership forums and local partners, our core Alliance team needs additional enthusiastic and skilled people to help us in delivering best practice, value and experience for patients.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, implementation and delivery of key projects across organisations in all sectors across Cheshire and Merseyside. The post holder will support a team of project and specialist staff and line manage project support staff within the CA team, supporting delivery of transformation projects funded by the National Cancer Programme.

The role will require project management skills and close working with external partners including providers, commissioners, patients and carers to deliver programme objectives in accordance with the aims and ambitions of the CA. This requires a level of political awareness, personal influence and skill.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oDegree level qualification or equivalent experience relevant to post
  • oFormal project management/improvement training

Desirable

  • oRecognised management qualification e.g. Diploma
  • oPRINCE 2 qualification or equivalent

Expertise

Essential

  • oEffectively utilise a range of IT office systems including MS Project, PowerPoint, Word, spreadsheets and web browser technologies
  • oDemonstrable ability to transfer skill to others and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • oKnowledge of the latest national cancer policy agenda and the opportunities for improvement in patient care presented by it
  • oPlanning, organising workload to meet deadlines including rapid prioritisation of tasks
  • oKnowledge and experience of project and change management

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of cancer services and the cancer improvement agenda
  • oKnowledge of NHS organisations and structures and how this impacts on cross-organisational project delivery
