Job summary

This post is for the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Diagnostics Transformation Programme, hosted by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Every patient story begins with a diagnosis. Healthcare depends on people being able to get the tests and scans they need to find out what's wrong and what treatment they need.

The NHS in Cheshire and Merseyside is at the vanguard of transforming NHS diagnostics with the latest technological advances and innovative ways of working, all focused on better care. We are:

  • Offering earlier, faster access to vital health tests so people are diagnosed at a stage when they have a better chance of a good outcome
  • Adopting the most advanced diagnostic techniques and technologies including AI
  • Using innovative ways of working including new workforce models and productivity tools so we can make the best use of diagnostic capacity for the people of Cheshire and Merseyside

The postholder will manage communications for this transformational work on diagnostics across Cheshire and Merseyside as part of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's Communications Team. It is a very exciting opportunity with lots of scope for the right candidate to make a real impact.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for someone with a great nose for news and making the most of a marketing opportunity but who also has strong NHS values. The ideal candidate will be someone who's keen to make a difference by using their communications and engagement expertise to help transform diagnostics, encourage people to attend screening and diagnostic appointments, and help local communities to get the very best care.

This wide-ranging role includes strategic comms, marketing, media relations, public health campaigns and community engagement, content creation (copy, video, graphics), stakeholder relations, case studies, digital and social media, and developing presentations, toolkits and resources aimed at healthcare professionals. See the job description and person specification for full details.

[The Diagnostics Transformation Programme includes endoscopy, community diagnostic centres, pathology, radiology and imaging, and physiological measurements.]
