We are looking for a full time Senior Accredited Clinical Coder to join our award winning BI team. This role will be vital in ensuring that we deliver a high quality Clinical Coding service. We are looking for an experienced Clinical Coder who is interested in joining a small but perfectly formed Clinical Coding Team to support delivery of the clinical coding. The team have recently received the highest level of assurance in the clinical coding audit.
This would be an ideal role for someone who has extensive experience and detailed understanding of NHS Clinical Coding. The ideal candidate would be an experienced accredited clinical coder who is interested in cancer specialisms.
This position is full time for 37.5 hours a week. The team are currently working in a blended fashion with an opportunity to work in our Wirral Centre or Liverpool Spine offices or to work at home.

Main duties of the job
To provide an accurate, timely and consistent abstraction and coding of all relevant clinical information, relating to the diagnoses, procedures and treatments for all patients admitted to the Trust according to the coding conventions and standards of ICD-10 International(Classification of Diseases) and OPCS-4 (Classification of Surgical Operations and Procedures).
Applying independent judgement in the interpretation, transposition, and sequencing of clinical data to reflect an exact clinically coded representation of the patient's hospital stay. This data is essential for the effective management of the Trust and directly influences income in line with the "Payment by Results" process. It also forms the basis for clinical audit, clinical governance reporting, bench marking and medical research.
Accredited Clinical Coders will be trained coders who have achieved the National Accreditation in the National Clinical Coding Qualification (UK). Clinical coders are also required to attend specialist workshops and refresher training once every 3 years.
This role requires substantial attention to clinical detail and a logical thought process. The clinical coding process supports the provision of data for the Trust's clinical activity.
A strong commitment to continued professional development is required including attending in-house and external training to ensure that coding knowledge is current and reflects mandatory requirement and best practice.

Responsibility for Information Resources1. Working as part of the Coding Team to ensure that the Trust have 100% coding completeness and a high standard of coding accuracy. Accredited clinical coders should work to a minimum of over 90% accuracy for primary diagnoses and procedures and over 90% for secondary diagnoses and procedures2. Identify missing information and retrieve in order to achieve departmental and Trust targets on completeness of coding.3. Use coding manuals to translate all relevant clinical information into ICD10 diagnostic and OPCS-4 procedural clinical codes, which accurately reflect the patients condition and treatment in the Trust.4. Code in accordance with National coding standards and appropriate Trust policies and procedures
Analytical and Judgement Skills1. Extract and analyse all available clinical information from electronic sources ie EPR clinical information system, Aria (Radiotherapy System) CRIS (Radiology System) to include nursing and clinical noting, documentation, ward round notes histology forms etc.in order to assign and sequence the episode coding2. Use of own knowledge and judgement to translate and identify appropriate codes for complex cases, carrying out duties independently and without routine supervision.3. Use and maintain an extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, to assist in the selection and application of clinical codes and to investigate and resolve possible inconsistencies between source data and test results.4. Liaise with clinicians to ensure patient documentation is complete and accurate to facilitate compliance with national standards and respond to clinicians queries with regards to coding and documentation requirements.
