Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to recruit 1 permanent 0.5 WTE on-treatment review advanced practitioner (OTR) within the radiotherapy department.

The role of the OTR is varied with an emphasis on undertaking reviews of patients receiving radiotherapy treatment. Please refer to the job description and person specification for more detailed information.Currently radiotherapy and OTR services are delivered across 3 clinical sites. If successful you will be expected to work on any site as required between the hours of 8.00am and 20.00pm. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in departmental on-call and bank holiday rotas.In addition successful candidates will be expected to participate in MSc-level study, and funding will be provided to support this requirement. The radiotherapy department promotes continuous professional development by supporting staff to attend conferences, study days and by offering access to training opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

  • Degree or Diploma in Radiotherapy or oncology nursing training
  • HPC registration as Therapy Radiographer or UK Nursing Council registration
  • Evidence of postgraduate study (M level) including Advanced Communication skills, Clinical examination skills
  • Evidence of CPD activities
  • PGD training

Desirable

  • MSc
  • Management study

Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of radiotherapy effects both acute and late
  • Extensive knowledge of Oncology

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post graduate experience in radiotherapy or oncology
  • Significant previous experience at a senior level ideally including team leadership role
