Job summary
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is seeking a Chief Pharmaceuticals Information Officer (CPIO) to lead and develop further electronic prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) within the Trust.
Working with the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO), Director of Pharmacy and Chief Information Officer, the CPIO will ensure the implementation of the digital strategy supports the digitisation of pharmacy services.
The post holder will drive continuous clinical process improvement focused on patient safety and quality.
Main duties of the job
The Chief Pharmaceuticals Information Officer (CPIO) will work as a senior leader within the Digital team, leading a digital pharmacy team. They will also have a key role within the Pharmacy Leadership team.
They will report to Chief Information Officer with professional accountability to the Director of Pharmacy. They will play an active role in developing systems to support safe and effective use of medicines leading on the development of ePMA, closed loop and the dictionary of medicines and devices (Dm+d)

The Chief Pharmaceutical Information Officer will be responsible for the delivery of the Trusts Digital Pharmacy Programme ensuring the implementation of pharmacy technology in a safe and controlled manner.
The post holder will be expected to:
- Maintain and lead on the E Prescribing elements of EPR.
Be responsible for be responsible for the risk management, quality assurance and continuous improvement of the electronic prescribing system.
- Ensure that there are safe and adequate contingency systems in place in the event of computer system failure for electronic prescribing and medicines administration.
The post holder will work closely with the Electronic Patient Records (EPR) Team and Digital Programme team to provide Pharmacist oversight and authority to all digital initiatives that impact medicines optimisation.
The postholder will represent the Trusts Pharmacy and Medicines optimisation teams and promote innovation and champion the development of a clinically appropriate information culture across the organisation. They will have experience of working at a senior level and will provide expert medicines optimisation input in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of systems and services to support clinical practice and quality care
