The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust Cancer Services Team is moving forward with innovative ways of working. Nurses who have the specialist skills to deliver SACT and the ongoing requirement to maintain these skills with annual assessment should be valued and recognised. Not only are we committed to investing in education, development and innovative practice we are able to offer an annual payment of £500 pro rata to those with SACT skills whether bringing them to the department or on completion of their specialist training.
We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team, due to the promotion of the existing post-holder. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for the management of the nursing team within the Headland Unit; a purpose designed 21 chaired chemotherapy day treatment unit. The unit also provides staffing for the Oncology and Haematology out- patient departments and staff rotate onto Lowen (the inpatient Haematology / Oncology ward). The post- holder will work closely with the Clinical Matron for Cancer Services, Lead SACT Nurse, Head of Nursing for the Care Group, Service Leads and Care Group General Manager to ensure that the quality and safety agenda for our patients remains paramount.

The post-holder will lead and support frontline staff to drive forward the professional nursing agenda. If you are a senior Registered Nurse with an Oncology / Haematology background and have a passion for exceptionally high standards of patient care this could be the role for you.
The departments are forward thinking and have had considerable investment over recent years to improve services and invest in staff. We also co-ordinate care and treatment with a GP practice in the East of the County.
You will need to have significant post registration experience in Haematology / Oncology, some of which should have been in a senior clinical leadership role. You will also need to provide evidence of effective leadership, practice development, expertise and innovation in clinical practice. This post will be demanding however, in return the organisation is committed to developing the new post holder both individually and as a part of the team.
