Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small specialist team in the Cornwall ME/CFS Service Applicants with a specialist understanding ME/CFS and Post Viral Fatigues are invited to apply for the above post.

The role is to provide complex, functional, cognitive, affect and emotional assessment to patients with these debilitating conditions, as part of a collaborative occupational approach to patient rehabilitation and care.

Applicants with a background in neurology, sensory integration, community rehabilitation and cognitive and behavioural approaches to working and supporting people with long term conditions are desired. A good level of understanding and knowledge of working with people ME/CFS is needed although training, supervision and support will be given to help you develop and grow. Applications need to be able to provide tailored programmes of rehabilitation based around symptoms management with particular focus on energy and activity management.

This is a part time post working 30 hours per week. Job share would be considered.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist assessment and treatment to patients within the speciality of ME/CFS (Adults) who may have a complex and/or chronic presentation.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment interventions as an autonomous practitioner using independence of judgement.

To contribute to the measurement and evaluation of clinical practice in the area of own practice through the use of Evidence Based Practice, research and audit to support and develop the quality of practice and patient care.

To act as a knowledgeable resource leading to the provision of high quality teaching and training of others.

To contribute to clinical governance, MDT, professional practice meetings and service development within the speciality in partnership with professional specialists and other clinicians.

To jointly run and contribute to the service group-work programmes.
