We are currently seeking enthusiastic Maternity Healthcare Support Workers to join our team at Princess Alexandra Wing, Royal Cornwall Hospital. The successful applicants will be responsible for supporting the midwifery team in delivering high standards of care to women and their babies.
The post-holder will contribute to the optimum delivery of care to women and babies by assisting all clinical staff and to deliver care in a manner sensitive to the individual woman's needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their rights and beliefs at all times.

Applicants should be trained to NVQ Level 2 (Health), or hold the Health Care Certificate. Venepuncture skills and previous knowledge of supporting feeding choices are desirable, but training will be given to the right applicant.
Main duties of the job
Assist and support midwifery staff with clinical duties. To establish a rapport with mothers and their families and an awareness of the individual woman's needs, ensuring these are communicated to the midwife.
To assist women to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance following delivery, demonstrating an awareness of their clinical condition and the individuals right to privacy and personal preference. Make a written record on appropriate record charts to any changes in skin appearance, and bodily functions and report the same to the Registered Midwife responsible for the patient.
To assist women with eating and drinking, ensuring they receive appropriate diet and fluids as indicated by their physical condition and personal/cultural preferences. Ensure any intake records are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and report any changes/difficulties to the Registered Midwife responsible for the patient.
Be able to work as a team member.
To perform clerical duties as designated by the Ward Manager.
