Job summary
This is a key specialist midwifery practitioner role. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Band 7 in the development and overseeing of a high-quality midwife led service providing multi aspect support for women who have experienced, in their minds, a traumatic birth.
The support may be pre pregnancy or during the antenatal, postnatal periods and beyond; and will often include support for their families. You will be responsible for assessing and triaging women and their families who are referred from a number of health care professionals.
The post holder will use their professional clinical knowledge, skills in trauma informed care, active listening, solution focussed questioning and birth trauma training to improve parent child bonding, relationships within the family unit and be responsible for the provision of high quality talking and listening interventions aimed to improve women and families understanding of their birth to find resolution and understanding and to look forward positively to an improved experience.

This is a part time post (15 hours per week).
Main duties of the job
Provide holistic midwifery care to women and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
Be accountable for his/her own practice in compliance with statutory requirements.
Provide midwifery care both in hospital, birth centre and community settings as required including the management of individual caseloads
Be responsible for maintaining and developing clinical skills and professional knowledge
Be active in the training and professional development of students and junior staff, and to provide clinical advice where necessary
Support the band 7 in the effective and efficient use and management of resources
To be aware of the public health strategy and work in partnership with other providers of health and social care to meet local community needs.
To deputise for the Band 7 in the clinical area when required.
Provide Birth Reflections Service in line with guidance.
