Job summary

A fantastic opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the Learning & Development Department.

As a moving and handling trainer you will deliver training to clinical and non clinical staff across the Trust.

Applications are invited from those with and without the specified Moving and handling qualification as training will be provided for the ideal candidate.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the training and assessment of manual handling techniques in clinical settings at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.

To support the development of manual handling key workers from within the nonregistered clinical staff groups .

Independently deliver manual handling training and assessment in both classroom and clinical settings using pre agreed lesson plans.

Be an advocate for the development of non registered staff to develop manual handling key worker skills.

Help develop a bespoke clinically based approach to manual handling assessment of competence.

Participate in quality improvement methods being utilised to progress and develop manual handling training at RCHT.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Possession of an apprenticeship or vocational qualification at level 3 or above within a relevant healthcare specialty
  • Knowledge and experience of moving and handling patients in clinical settings oExperience of using mechanical equipment to move patients oKnowledge and experience of up to date manual handling practice

Desirable

  • oCompletion of manual handling key worker programme.
  • oExperience of teaching/assessing/supporting learners - this may be within the clinical setting

Practical and intelluctual skills

Essential

  • oGood communication /interpersonal skills
  • oBasic IT skills oOrganisational skills and ability to manage own time

  • oBasic IT skills
