An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Uro-Oncology CNS team. You will also provide support for patients receiving treatment including immunotherapy and support the team in establishment of nurse-led clinics to assess patients on treatment.
You will join a supportive, forward thinking and innovative multidisciplinary team, who are committed to improving services for patients undergoing treatment and who develop toxicities and complications a result of their immunotherapy cancer treatments.
Main duties of the job
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has launched a significant investment in its Cancer Services workforce over the last few years.
You'll have post-registration experience in oncology / haematology/ palliative care, advanced communication skills, be willing to undertake a nurse prescribing course if required.
Within this role you will be required to have an understanding of the needs of acutely unwell cancer patients; possess advanced communication skills for advising patients, relatives and other health professionals along with knowledge of managing acute conditions, disease progression complications, and management of immunotherapy cancer treatment complications.
You will be dynamic with an ability to work autonomously, prioritise care and balance workload in a busy environment whilst supporting colleagues. A flexible approach and commitment to service development is essential for this post and you may be required to work in other areas within the service determined by demands and needs of the service.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating expert nursing care to provide support to patients with a diagnosis of urological cancer and their carers through their diagnosis and treatment to ensure they have appropriate access to support and information.
The post holder will ensure they are providing a robust communication system with the consultants and medical teams including close working relationships with the oncology teams and the other medical teams who give advice and support to patients receiving Immunotherapy.
The post holder will be an experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support and deliver care and management support for urology cancer patients who are diagnosed and undergoing treatment at RCHT, including Personalised Immunotherapy Toxicity Assessments delivery.
The post holder will be able to take a relevant history and clinical assessment to develop a management plan and evaluate the progress of that plan within the limitations of their knowledge and skills while being supported by medical and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To act as an expert resource and facilitator to educate and train other Healthcare professionals as required.
The post holder will initially be based in the specialty of Oncology within cancer services.
The post-holder will work under the supervision of the Metastatic Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist.
