There is an exciting job opportunity for a registered nurse on Grenville Ward as part of Specialist Medicine.
Our specialty makes us an exciting and ambitious, forward thinking department that provides holistic, multi-professional care. We are currently involved in several quality improvement projects which include: Pressure ulcer prevention, SAFER care bundle and ward accreditation. There is commitment to support the development of nurses from a 'general ward nurse' to a 'Speciality' Nurse including training in Immediate Life Support, AIMS and other specialist procedures depending on the team you may join.
Grenville Ward is a 24 bed acute medical ward specialising in Renal & Endocrine medicine. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, vibrant, and caring team dedicated to upholding the trust values whilst delivering excellent, holistic care and treatment for our patient's.
We treat a wide variety of conditions including acute kidney injury (AKI), complications of haemo/peritoneal dialysis treatment, type 1 & 2 Diabetes and its myriad of complications and eating disorders / refeeding syndrome, as well as sepsis, acute coronary syndrome and other general medical conditions. Our team work closely with the renal unit, diabetic specialist nurses, home dialysis nurses, dieticians, diabetic foot clinic, urology and vascular teams.
Main duties of the job
We are passionate about palliative / end of life (EOL) care and strive to provide an excellent palliative care service.
We also work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team including physiotherapists and occupational therapists to plan timely discharge and reduce hospital burden.
Grenville strives for clinical excellence and strongly supports the progression of clinical skillsets to optimise patient outcomes. We are developing a strong link nurse network with the aim of creating local experts within the team who can cascade knowledge and information to improve standards.

Our specialty makes us an exciting and ambitious forward thinking ward that provides holistic, multi-professional care. Wheal Prosper Ward is currently involved in delivering a high level of care for those patients who are infected and needing isolation, in one of our 12 isolation rooms.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of clinical standards and infection control principles. You must be able to work on your own initiative and also be an excellent team player whilst being prepared to develop as an individual and support others to develop.

Update - NHS employees/applicants of frontline posts at the Royal Cornwall Trust are no longer required to be fully vaccinated against COVID by 1 April 2022. This is pending the public consultation and Parliamentary review announced by the government. We may however request immunisation status but this will not impact working with the Trust.
