We have an exciting opportunity available at the Royal Cornwall Hospital for Registered Nurses to join our committed team in the Emergency Department in the Urgent, Emergency and Trauma Care Group.
We are seeking applications from nurses who have the ability and determination to learn and to gain new skills and competencies and who are motivated to develop the highest standards of care and who are committed to continuous improvement.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of clinical standards. You must be able to work on your own initiative and also be an excellent team player whilst being prepared to develop as an individual and support others to develop.
Full and part time hours available.
Main duties of the job
To work as a skilled member of the nursing team.To provide a high standard of compassionate patient centred care.To lead and supervise the work of other qualified and unqualified staff within the team.To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff, as deemed appropriate by the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse or Clinical Matron.

To supervise and support members of the ward team to ensure that all patients receive the appropriate care. To maintain a compassionate, caring and safe environment for all. To act as an advocate for the patients and their families and or carers, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate. To plan effective discharge from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary. To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide research informed, evidence based nursing care. This includes expanded role responsibilities, following appropriate competency based training. To be competent and compliant in the administration of medicines in line with Trust policy. To use electronic patient systems i.e. PAS in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.
