Considering completing your Non- Medical Prescribing?

Most of our pharmacists are non-medical prescribers and are consistently involved with reviewing and prescribing for patients admitted to hospital. This role offers the opportunity for NMP funding, support from prescribing pharmacists and study time to support you in completing the course.

Interested in completing your Clinical Diploma?

The department will offer you half a day a week study time to achieve this important further educational development together with study time to attend formal training to support your progression to a specialist role. Better still, we will fund the Diploma for you.

You will join our dynamic team of Specialist and Consultant Pharmacists who deliver brilliant care to Cornwall. In turn they will cultivate and help grow your knowledge and nurture your development

Main duties of the job

To provide professional pharmacist support and expertise while rotating within Clinical, Technical, Dispensary, Mental Health, General Practice and Medicines Information services.

The role is based at Royal Cornwall Hospital. We have a full programme of training and development which is tailored to meet your individual needs and is supported by experienced and specialist pharmacists. As part of your rotation, you will gain experience in surgery, acute medicine, trauma, emergency medicine, care of the elderly, mental health and medicines information.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week.

We provide an innovative clinical pharmacy service, combining technology and clinical pharmacy expertise. With full deployment of electronic prescribing and administration in the inpatient and outpatient setting and fully automated dispensing.

We are a recognised national forerunner for innovation in fields such as antimicrobial resistance and the adoption of Scan4Safety standards, as was recognised in the 2019 HSJ Patient Safety Awards.

All these functions are supported by an excellent wholesale dealer supply service, a well-equipped licensed pharmacy technical services unit and the full range of medicines optimisation support services including medicines information, education and training, formulary support and digital medicines.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.
