Job summary
Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Acute Medicine at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on the Same Day Medical Assessment Unit and AMU.
We have a dedicated built unit to deliver Same Day Medical Care. The unit is open from 08.00 to 22.00 and has eight treatment chairs, eight trollies, two clinic rooms, two side rooms and two RATS bay, delivering brilliant same day care. The AMU has 53 beds.
The Acute Medical team consists of eight Consultants and nine Specialty Doctors.
Applicants will be required to have experience of working within the NHS at a Junior / CMT / Trust SHO Doctor level which must include working in Medicine for a minimum period of 12 months. You will require current ALS / ATLS (or equivalent) and will also be GMC registered.
You will have access to study leave and the experience will be equivalent to a training post. You will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the substantive posts within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
- Assessment and management of acute admissions to the Acute Medical Unit and Same Day Medical Assessment Unit Attend ward rounds as timetabled.
- Attend multi-disciplinary ward
- Assist in-patient
- Assessment of patients in the Emergency
- Fulfill the duties of the weekly timetable including out of hours
- Participate in Clinical
- Participate in departmental Education and Training sessions
