Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated person Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our friendly and progressive Occupational Therapy, Splinting and Bracing Team at West Cornwall Hospital. The successful applicant will assist the Occupational Therapy Team to deliver outpatient splinting and bracing services and also provide administrative support.

As part of your role you will be expected to liaise and work with patients, carers, other healthcare professionals and external agencies regularly, therefore you will need excellent communication and team working skills.

Training for the specifics of this post will be provided but applicants will need to have a caring attitude, an aptitude for technical skills and have some experience of office work.

Main duties of the job

The duties of this post include:

The administration of pending lists and the booking of patients for appointments.

Administrative and clerical duties such as responding to patients enquires and management of notes.

Stock management and ordering splints/braces as requested by the Occupational Therapist

Responsibility for an agreed caseload of patients with the support and supervision from the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.

The fitting of replacement splints under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.

Use of creative skills to make and fit compression sleeves/gloves and splint adaptations.
