Trust Doctor in Vascular Surgery - ST3 Equivalent
Fixed term: six months contract potential to extend
Applications are invited for the post of a Trust Doctor (ST3 Equivalent) in Vascular Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro on a fixed term basis
You will join a busy surgical unit in a large acute hospital Trust of around 1,000 beds over three hospital sites serving a resident population of approximately 400,000 (rising to almost one million during the holiday season) and providing a range of elective / emergency surgery. In addition, the unit has a thriving endovascular service and a fully equipped hybrid operating suite. The successful candidate will join our team of six consultant surgeons, one staff grade doctor and one other middle grade trainee and have the opportunity to undertake training in line with your professional and developmental needs. There is the opportunity to participate in teaching, audit and research to enhance your portfolio.
Main duties of the job
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management and delivery of vascular services, with responsibility for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- To fulfil out-of-hours' responsibilities including full participation in the on-call rota.
- To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Department of Vascular Surgery.
- Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To attend meetings as appropriate.
- Fulfil duties of weekly timetable including any out of hour's responsibilities.
