Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine
6 month Fixed Term Contract
We are looking for motivated individuals to join and expand our enthusiastic and friendly team of eight Specialty Doctors at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Emergency Department.
The thriving tourism industry ensures we see over 80,000 patients per annum with a varied case mix and a high proportion of trauma.
Main duties of the job
Doctors interested in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine will find these posts offer invaluable experience in a beautiful part of the country. There is a regular teaching programme for middle grades aimed at the FRCEM. Early participation on ALS, APLS and ATLS is enabled by our locally run courses. There are research opportunities in the department; we have successfully recruited to several national trials. We have students from the University of Exeter Medical School (in the top ten medical schools in the UK) and there are ample opportunities to teach. We rated the best hospital in the South West on the GMC's 2019 national training survey.
Contracts will be based on a ten session Specialty Doctor contract, of which one session will be for supporting professional activities. The posts include annual and study leave. We offer a double time, enhanced rate of two hours per PA between 10pm and 8am (5.25PA per night shift) to recognise out of hours work and give flexibility to achieve an excellent work life balance.
