Main duties of the job
Examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge of patients.
Independent and supervised outpatient clinics including an emergency eye clinic
Perform laser and minor operative procedures.
Participation in 1 in 6 on-call rotas.
Supervision as required of junior medical staff during working hours in the department.
Involvement in Clinical Audit, teaching, and research. Additional duties as may be required within the grade of a temporary or permanent nature.

- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Ophthalmology.
- To share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Ophthalmology Department.
- Teaching and training of junior staff, and opportunity to teach medical students within the Peninsula Medical School.
