Respiratory Physiologist
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to further develop the respiratory service across Royal Cornwall, West Cornwall and Bodmin. This role will enhance diagnostic services and respiratory care within Cornwall.
Main Duties / responsibilities include: Clinical/Technical Investigations including generation of accurate reports. Flow volume loop. Reversibility testing administration of bronchodilator drugs. Gas transfer test. Body Plethysmography/Nitrogen Washout. Feno testing. Pulse oximetry. Six Minute Walk test. Skin prick allergy testing (Royal Cornwall Hospital site). Respiratory muscle testing (MIP, MEP and SNIP). Hypoxic challenge tests.
Full time - 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Equipment Maintenance.
Responsible for appropriate use, upkeep, and maintenance of highly specialised equipment.
Lung Function Equipment.
Calibrate and clean daily.
Disconnect and reconnect compressed gas cylinders as required.
Undertake routine maintenance and troubleshooting, fault finding on complex equipment to maintain service delivery.
If problems arise that cannot be solved contact the manufacturer for advice or to request call out.
Monitor stock levels of disposables/chemicals.
Undertake physiological check on equipment on a weekly basis.

- Knowledge of respiratory physiology to Degree level and / or equivalent
- ARTP Part 1 which includes clinical supervision of practice and competency assessment.
Experience

- Previous experience of performing a range of diagnostic procedures within specialist area of Respiratory Physiology (LFT's, Hypoxic challenge tests etc).
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team.
- Supervision/training of junior staff or MDT
Desirable
- Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
- Mentoring/Line management experience.
- Experience in Sleep medicine.
