Job summary

Due to the nature of this unit, the post holder must be female. This provision applies under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, section 7 (2)(B) in relation to a genuine occupational qualification.

The Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main acute healthcare provider for the population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, providing a full range of services accessed by more than 600,000 people a year.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest standards of patient care and will be required to lead, supervise, mentor and develop other team members, providing a model of expert practice in terms of knowledge and experience. You will act as a source of expert professional advice to other professionals, patients and carers.

Although based at The Royal Cornwall Hospital you will be required to work on our Mobile Breast Screening Units situated around the county, and you will therefore need to have a full UK driving license. The Mermaid Centre is regarded as one of the top performing units in the country.

These services may be provided over an extended working day/week. Formal academic qualification alone is not sufficient to obtain an Advanced Practitioner Post. The advanced practitioner will be subject to an annual appraisal to assess continued competency.
