Job summary
We
are looking to recruit enthusiastic, committed and motivated Senior Health Care
Assistants with excellent communication and leadership skills to join our
nursing team.
You will have the ability to
work within a multi-professional team and assist in ensuring the delivery of
the highest standards of care. You will contribute towards developments in
nursing within the service. You will be joining a highly skilled and committed
team who will give their full support in your training and development.
The successful candidates will be expected to
develop their knowledge and skills to deliver an enhanced HCA role.
Main duties of the job
You will support the delivery of care to patients
before and after endoscopic procedures, acting as an assistant to the
Registered nurse who is co-ordinating the care of patients and overseeing the
efficient functioning of the decontamination area.
The enhanced clinical element of the role is to
assist the Registered Nurse, acting as the second Assistant during the
endoscopic procedure
This post will be based predominantly at Sunderland
Royal Hospital, however cross site working will be an expectation. Shift patterns are Monday to Friday with some
evening shifts, you will also take part in an on call roster in the future.

Essential
- Numeracy & Literacy Skills to Level 2 or equivalent.
- IT / keyboard and computer Skills.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment .
- General understanding of confidentiality requirements in a health care setting.
- Working towards or gained NVQ 3 and/or Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Care certificate.
Desirable
- Competent in decontamination of endoscopes and/or working in Endoscopy Treatment room.
