Job summary
We are
currently recruiting an exceptional Operating Department
Practitioner/Registered Nurse to join our Theatre team as band 6 Team Leader
for Urology Theatres Trust wide.
You will be a
skilled member of the team, responsible for providing high quality, safe and
personal care to our patients.
You will also
be required to provide supervision, advice, education and training to junior
members of staff and act as a mentor/supervisor.
We are a busy
theatre department and provide care for patients undergoing a range of surgical
specialties including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT,
Vascular and Paediatric.
This position will
involve weekend work and an on call commitment (respectively) in accordance
with the Duty Rota and may also involve nights occasionally.
Main duties of the job
To be
responsible and accountable for the safe, effective and compassionate nursing
care for all patients in the operating theatres.
To exercise
accountability as set out in the NMC/HCPC Code.
To supervise,
support and educate junior members of the team, acting as a role model.
Support Theatre
or speciality manager to ensure organisational goals/objectives are met within
the operating department.
When taking
charge of the Operating department, is directly responsible for ensuring that
clinical, professional and cleanliness standards are maintained.
Act as
coordinator of the department making informed decisions regarding the service
provision and patient care.
Assist with
improving theatre utilisation and efficiency to reduce costs and improve
patient care.
Carry out
investigations into incidents which have occurred in designated area take steps
to improve safety.
Participate in
internal rotation as well as on call rota.
Maintain
effective links with specialist nurses/practitioners, utilising their skills and
knowledge.
Regularly give
presentations to small groups of staff for training needs.
Be responsible
for assessing and grading of student nurse/student ODP practices in line with
University curriculum.
To ensure
effective communication internally and externally, regarding patient care and
resources.
To comply with
