We are currently recruiting a motivated Theatre Receptionist / Admin Support.

If you have experience working with people in a busy environment, then we are looking for you.

We are a busy Operating Theatre and provide care for patients undergoing treatment from the following specialities: General Surgery, Vascular, Emergency Service, ENT, Paediatrics, Urology, Facial Maxillary, Orthopaedics and Gynaecology.

The role involves working as an admin/reception Team Member within a very busy working environment. You will be able to support the clinical staff with the smooth running of the operating lists. Carrying out administrative tasks which will support patient care delivery.

If you are successful in obtaining a position with us as a Theatre Receptionist / Admin Support you may be required to take part in shift patterns to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

Working two days a week Thursday and Friday, the successful candidate will be the face of theatres at South Tyneside. They will be responsible for communicating massages and instructions to colleagues and other members of the MDT and must have an understanding of confidentiality in the healthcare setting as may have to handle sensitive information.

They must be empathetic, be able to reassure patients, and have basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment. They will be flexible and adaptable to change in accordance to the patients needs and the needs of the service, and committed to behaving in a professional manner, presenting a caring image to patients. The ability to remain calm instressful situations is essential.

The successful candidate must have basic numeracy and literacy skills (to level 1) and have basic IT skills. Training on the hospital systems will be given.

To efficiently undertake reception duties within Theatres whilst ensuring a confidential service to all.

To provide an administrative service and support to staff by ensuring all confidential patient information is prepared and given to Theatre staff in readiness for Theatre lists.

Administration tasks include general admin tasks, data input (PCS) message taking, relaying of messages to theatre staff via the intercom system, answering surgeons bleep calls, liaising with wards for any queries or equipment required for patients.

Liaise with the wards to ensure the prompt arrival of patients into Theatre.

Completion of the relevant requisition requests via the Oracle Procurement system, at the request of senior staff, for non-routine products

Ensure all delivery / supplier documentation for non-routine products are filed using agreed protocols

Collect and correlate data and liaise with the Audit department and Consultants for the ongoing National Joint Registry Audit.

Liaise with Procurement & Supplies team as required
