As a Sterile Services Team Leader, you will be at the heart of our mission to ensure the highest standards of sterilisation and decontamination within Sterile Services at STSFT. You will lead a dynamic team of Sterile Services Operatives, overseeing the processing and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment to support out clinical teams.

Previous experience of working in a hospital, manufacturing or processing environment would also be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing the Sterile Services Operative team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.

Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.

Co-ordinate daily operations, including prioritisation of workload and ensuring timely processing of instruments.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Collaborate closely with clinical departments to understand and meet their needs.

Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.

Candidates must be willing to undergo department and role specific training and study as required.

Sterile Services Team Leaders are required to cover the following shift patterns on a rotational basis: 7am-10pm Monday to Friday and 7am-8pm Saturday and Sunday. The post holder will be expected to cover bank holidays and the departmental on-call commitments, as well as being flexible to cover the needs of the service

  • Manual dexterity to strip and reassemble instruments

Qualifications

  • Level 3 SSD Supervisors/Managers course in Decontamination of Medical Equipment (or equivalent) or willing to complete within 12 months of appointment.

Desirable

  • ISO 13485:2016 Medical Device Internal Auditor Training Course (must be willing to undertake within 18 months of taking up the post)

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in production or quality controlled environment
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of coordinating a production process

Desirable

  • Experience of training and mentoring others
  • Experience of managing a team including, undertaking appraisals, absence / performance management.
