An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated band 5 staff nurse to work within the Cataract Treatment Centre. The role is interesting, varied and includes duties and responsibilities across both theatre and outpatient settings. In house training will be given to achieve the competencies required for the role. The service is presently Monday to Friday with variable shift patterns from 8.00am to 17.30. There are opportunities for development including pre-assessment and the role of primary and scrub nurse. With the development of the new hospital planned for 2026, this poses an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Within the Cataract Treatment Centre, the Role of a Band 5 Staff Nurse is quite diverse and varied dealing with patients attending for Cataract Surgery. We currently have funding for a 37.5 hour post or two part time staff (minimum 22 hours). The role involves working across Theatre and Outpatients with many responsibilities and duties throughout the patient journey. In house training will be given and Competency based assessments undertaken to learn all aspects of the role including pre-assessment, Primary Nursing and Scrub nursing to name a few.

The Cataract Treatment Centre currently covers a Monday-Friday service with usual shift patterns between the hours of 8am-5.30pm.

Good communication and organisational skills are essential for this role and you will be required to work as part of our Multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of patient care in a fast paced environment.
