We are seeking to appoint an
experienced Senior Ophthalmic Photographer to assist in leading and developing
the Ophthalmic Imaging service. The Ideal candidate will therefore have
extensive experience and expert knowledge in ophthalmic imaging processes and
systems.
This is an exciting opportunity
where you will lead and develop the high-quality diagnostic services to assist
clinicians to diagnose, monitor and treat complex eye conditions. The right
individual will facilitate an environment which provides extensive learning and
development within the team.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide supervision to the diagnostic
services across the Ophthalmology service as part of the imaging team, ensuring
the efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources to provide a
service which reflects the highest standard of clinical effectiveness and
patient care.
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic,
enthusiastic individual who has extensive post-graduate experience. The post
holder will provide supervision and have task manger responsibilities including
training Ophthalmic photographers, Ophthalmic imaging technicians and
administrative staff.
You should be technically minded, show a keen attention
to detail and demonstrate a strong commitment to high standards of patient
care. You should have a passion for patient-centred care and demonstrate
behaviours that reflect our trust values. You will work closely with all
members of the multidisciplinary team, e.g. photographers, clinicians, and
nurses. You should have experience and skills in teamwork and be able to
demonstrate your ability to work effectively as part of a team.
The Ophthalmology Directorate comprises 282 staff from a
diverse set of professional backgrounds working into a number of sub
specialities including: Cataract Treatment Centre, Theatres, Diabetic Retinal
Screening, Eye Emergency Department, Macular, Paediatrics, Optometry and
Orthoptists who provide a range of services within the inpatient and outpatient
settings.

To provide expert imaging
services that are essential for the accurate diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing
management of various ophthalmic conditions.
- Assist with the efficient and effective

make critical judgements about how best to produce the appropriate images for
the benefit of the clinical staff and patients, based on a good understanding of the anatomy of the eye

maintenance of imaging devices such as fundus cameras, optical coherence
tomography (OCT), and photo slit-lamp cameras.
- To utilise advanced imaging techniques and specialised equipment to capture
detailed images of the eye's structures, including the retina, cornea, and
optic nerve.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to enhance the
service and improve patient outcomes.
- To provide valuable clinical imaging/
information that will be used for virtual evaluation of patients and planning
of the patients care pathway.
- To lead on various
specialist service areas within the department, demonstrating flexibility and
adaptability to effectively manage and respond to the dynamic needs of the team
e.g. clinical research.
- To provide day-to-day
supervision to the Ophthalmic Photographers and other Multidisciplinary staff in the department.
- To act as an assessor/mentor
to Ophthalmic imaging technicians, contributing to the development and delivery
of specific training programmes.
- To assess the urgency of a referral and escalate to the
