Job summary

Part Time-22.5 hours per week -An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse who is looking for an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge within the specialist field of diabetes as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (Band 6).The role will work across multiple locations, including community.

This post will allow the successful candidate to advance their knowledge in diabetes and the long-term health needs of adults. You will need to have a demonstrated an interest in diabetes supported by recent experience or qualifications.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise and will join a dynamic team across various locations. The applicants must be committed to providing an excellent standard of patient care, and also to their own professional development. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be supportive and open to new initiatives. As a growing service meeting the needs of an expanding local population, the service provides a number of routine and specialist services.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide comprehensive, effective and specialist diabetes nursing care and advice to patients, carers and health care professionals across a variety of settings, including community.
  • To work closely with other health care professionals in the development of diabetes services.
  • To assess, plan, develop and evaluate programmes of diabetes patient care in collaboration with other members of the diabetes team.
