Science Assistant to join our team. This could be ideal for someone looking to

Performing a range of respiratory and sleep
investigations, our work involves an engaging mix of science, technology and
patient care, utilising a mixture of skills in order to obtain accurate and
reliable results.
The department comprises
a small team working across two sites and this new role has been created to
support expansion of the service. We are looking for someone who is
enthusiastic, friendly, has good attention to detail and who enjoys helping
people, someone who will thrive within a busy, multidisciplinary team including
physiologists, nursing staff, clerical staff and consultants
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will perform a number of routine lung function tests, including
spirometry, FeNO and six-minute walk tests, and assist with sleep diagnostics
by setting up, issuing and downloading diagnostic sleep equipment. On the job
training will be provided, you will also be expected to complete the ARTP
Spirometry Practitioner certificate. Your work will then follow standard operating
procedures, with advice available from senior physiologists.
The
role will be primarily based at Sunderland Royal Hospital but will also include
time spent working & training at South Tyneside District Hospital.
It is essential to possess NVQ level 3 in an appropriate
science/healthcare-related subject (or equivalent level of qualification) or be
able to demonstrate significant previous experience working within a
Respiratory and Sleep Physiology department in an assistant practitioner (Band
3 level) role. You must also have
experience of working with the general public, preferably in a healthcare
setting.
