Job summary
South Tyneside and
Sunderland Cardiology department seek a well-motivated post Foundation doctor
for a clinical fellowship for a fixed term of 12 months.
The successful candidate will be expected to
develop plans for an accelerated cardiac amyloid diagnostic pathway and clinic.
The post holder will refer cases to the National Amyloidosis Centre and ideally
participate in Amyloid MDT. In addition, the role will require participation in
research and audit related to the programme and there will be an expectation to
develop the work into a business case for the service to continue beyond
12 months after the post holder has completed the fellow post
Main duties of the job
Develop clinical pathway for patients with red flags for cardiac
amyloidosis towards diagnosis.
Participate in Clinic including the proposed amyloid clinic
Meticulously track key performance indicators as part of an ongoing audit to
feed into later business case If applicable.
Participate in research
related to the role.
Attend heart failure and
other MDTs relevant to the role both local and regional Deliver education and
produce educational materials relevant to the role.
Work with the service lead to develop the service.

the department of cardiology to provide a high standard of care and will be
supported by consultant colleagues.
Whilst this post is not recognized as a training post, the
successful candidate will be involved in an active programme of training and
education of undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees.
The candidate will be not be expected to
be part of the on call rota.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration to the end of the post.
- Have evidence of achievement of foundation competences from a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or equivalent, by time of application in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK
Experience

- Experience in a range of acute medical specialties.
- Demonstrates awareness of managing acute medical conditions, including emergencies, in patients and out patients.
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems.
