Consultant Nephrology
This job is now closed
Job summary
Sunderland Renal Unit is a dynamic department that has undergone significant reorganisation, investment and expansion in recent years. We provide high-quality, high-continuity patient-focused care. We work hard for our patients and have created a supportive working environment for each other, our juniors, and our wider MDT. We have two clear goals: i) provide excellent, holistic care for people living with kidney disease, and ii) run a well-designed service which is a pleasure to work in.
We operate a range of sub-specialty nephrology clinics and have growing numbers of home dialysis and transplant patients. Innovations in recent years include our Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology service and our in house Assisted Home Dialysis Team. We are developing a national post-graduate qualification in Interventional Nephrology and Point of Care Ultrasound. We are working with Sunderland Medical School to deliver and develop their undergraduate renal medicine curriculum. We have several international links, including our ISN sister unit in Tanzania.
We are looking for a colleague who shares our enthusiasm for renal excellence. We are particularly keen to appoint someone who will participate in interventional nephrology, undertake research, help in medical education, or set up new subspecialty services. You will have our encouragement and support to develop your ideas and expertise throughout your consultant career.
