Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust as a receptionist / administrative assistant.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced receptionist / admin assistant to join our team and support the delivery of high quality, safe oncology and haematology care. You will be a first point of contact for telephone enquiries from patients and their carers and will be responsible for booking appointments for new patients as well as follow up care. The right candidate will have strong communication skills. You will be fully supported to ensure you develop the skills required for the post. The Trust offers services across a number of locations, the main base will be Phoenix Unit, on the Sunderland site, however they may be the requirement to work at South Tyneside or Washington sites.
Main duties of the job
You will need excellent communication skills and to be confident at communicating with patients who are facing a life limiting illness. You will need to be confident in communicating with all members of the multi-disciplinary team at all levels. Respond to frequent enquiries from patients, carers and NHS staff using verbal and written communication. Deal with queries in a confidential, sensitive manner. Be able to navigate around the trusts IT systems though training will be provided.
