Ward B28 at Sunderland Royal Hospital are looking from an enthusiastic person with excellent communication and listening skills to come and work as part of our team, in a ward clerk role. You will be expected to work to a high standard and have a good knowledge of IT packages and applications. Full training and support will be given.
Ward B28 is a speciality ward within the directorate of medical specialities, which covers Renal Haematology, Oncology and Rheumatology.
You will act as a point of contact for patients, relatives and carers. You will provide a full range of administration and reception duties to support the ward, ensuring patient discharges and follow ups are appropriately actioned, answering the telephone and dealing with visitors to the ward. The post is very active and requires movement around the hospital with potential cross site cover and you will be required to cover various wards. The successful candidate will be adaptable to change and flexible to the needs of the business, be motivated and enthusiastic and as a Trust we offer excellent career progression. Excellent organisational skills are essential as is an empathetic nature. The post is 19 hours per week, over 7 days between the hours of 7.30am and 8pm.
Main duties of the job
To provide a full range of clerical and reception duties supporting the professional qualified health care workers in the delivery of a quality service for all patients who attend the ward. To work closely with the Ward team and specialist Doctors.
You must possess excellent communication skills and are able to work in a busy environment.
Be able to learn new skills and IT systems
You will also assist in activities on the ward and assist where needed the ward team.
You must be able to work well with a wide variety of health care professionals.
You must be comfortable in an environment in speaking with patients and their relatives.
