Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide Personal Medical Secretary to support a Consultant surgeon in the Directorate of Vascular Surgery.You will be an integral part of the team acting as a direct link between patients and surgeons as well as being responsible for managing clinicians day to day clinical timetables and commitments.
The main duties of the role are to support the consultant surgeon organising their day to day clinical activities and commitments and be the direct link between the consultant and patients. They also include booking of theatre lists, typing of clinics and attention work, actioning notices and validation.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have excellent organisational skills, be extremely efficient and be able to work under pressure as part of a large team and to tight deadlines.You must be able to prioritise and manage a busy workload and be committed to delivering the best care to patients.AMSPAR Diploma or OCR/RSA level 3 or equivalent are desirable but not essential, however you must have experience of working in a Medical Secretarial role or significant administration experience.A sound knowledge of medical terminology is desirable and the ability to demonstrate good audio-typewriting skills is required.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (including Outlook and Excel) is essential.Applicants should be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, prioritise and manage a busy workload, excellent telephone manner and be committed to delivering the best care to patients.
