Job summary
We have an
exciting opportunity for a full time Urology Treatment Centre Receptionist to
join our Urology department working across a five day rota.
You will be an integral part of the team acting as a
direct link between patients and the Urology clinical team and you will provide that first representation of
both the Urology Directorate and the Trust. This will be a demanding but very rewarding post, dealing
with patients, staff and the public and requires excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and a friendly and approachable manner.
The post holder should be
flexible and keen to learn and provide a comprehensive administrative support
service for the main Urology Treatment Centre Department. The successful
candidate has a specific responsibility to accurately record patient details so
it is essential they are educated to level 4 in Maths and English or equivalent
and have are proficient in Microsoft Packages and IT systems.
The successful candidate
must be able to organise and prioritise their workload effectively, have
previous clerical experience in a pressurized environment and understand the
importance of confidentiality.
Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will:
- Provide registration on computer/manually of patients attending Urology Treatment Centre
- Inform nursing staff of any patient presenting in need of immediate assessment/intervention
- Prepare daily consultant review clinics
- Filing of patient Urology Department cards in the primary/secondary filing system
- Booking appointments for the Urology clinics
- Possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in sometimes stressful and traumatic situations
- To be able to deal with all sensitive situations that may arise with tact.
- Assist in the local induction of new members of staff
- To comply with Trust Policies and Procedures
- To be able to work shifts with maximum flexibility as and when needed, sometimes at short notice to cover leave and sickness.
- Checking NHS SPINE website for patients NHS numbers and GPs and updating records accordingly.
- To undertake reception duties in accordance with the needs of the department and act as main liaison point for any out of hours queries. To ensure only professional and respectful service is given
- Identifying overseas patients and completing/scanning the necessary forms for this
- Scan GP Letters, ECGs, Ambulance PRFs onto patients ED visit
- Deal/manage incoming and outgoing mail.
