Job summary
A position has
arisen within the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit for a friendly and
enthusiastic band 6 Early Pregnancy Specialist Nurse to come and lead our early
pregnancy service within gynaecology outpatient department. Gynaecology comprises of our inpatient area,
colposcopy, fertility, gynaecology outpatients as well as our early pregnancy
services. The post holder will work
predominately in EPAU but may be required to work across the other departments
to cover the needs of the services.
We are looking for
an individual who will provide care, guidance and support which is based on an
advanced level of knowledge. The early
pregnancy lead nurse will work alongside clinicians to provide high quality and
effective care to patients throughout their journey and is empathetic to the
patients' individual needs. The post
holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the Early Pregnancy Unit with a
focus on providing high quality clinical care to pregnant women who experience
complications in early pregnancy. The
candidate will require excellent communication skills. Experience as a band 5
within gynaecology is essential, with a recognised ultrasound qualification in
early pregnancy.
Main duties of the job
This post includes ensuring patients with early
pregnancy problems have timely access to investigations that they require to
ensure that accurate and rapid diagnosis leads to an appropriate and timely
treatment plan. The post holder will clinically assess and perform ultrasound
for women with early pregnancy complications, plan and implement management or
refer on to the on-call medical team where appropriate. The role will play a
pivotal role in ensuring women and their partners are offered appropriate information, support and
counselling and receive the most up to date information and guidance.
Shift patterns
include Monday -Friday 8am-5pm with rotational weekends. Base site will be SRH
but the post holder will be expected to travel to ST to undertake clinics.

- Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience.
