Are you an adult registered nurse who would like to become a registered
midwife? Do you have at least 12-months post NMC registration experience as a
registered nurse and a degree (2:2 or above) or Advanced Diploma in Nursing?
If the answer is yes we would like to help you make the change
through a fully funded MSc midwifery (2year shortened) programme.
Teaching is provided via online remote learning and on campus teaching,
however this includes a requirement to attend a 9-weeks of campus learning
spread across the Programme at Bradford University.
Clinical placements are offered with the Trust and you will be placed
in various clinical locations to enable to you to meet the NMC practice
requirements. Clinical placements included community, labour suite, and
antenatal/postnatal ward and midwifery clinics. During these placements, you
will be supported by a practice supervisor and practice assessor.
For the duration of the programme you will be paid at Band 5 and on
completion of the programme you have the opportunity to progress to Band 6 role.

Main duties of the job
This
Opportunity is for a registered Nurse, who will undertake a
2-year shortened MSc Programme gaining qualification upon successful completion
as a registered Midwife.
Upon completion you will be a competent and
skilled practitioner able to assess, provide care, advice and support to women
(and families) throughout the antenatal, labour and postnatal period. This post
may either be within one of the community teams or the hospital acute teams.
You will be expected to work shift patterns
to cover a 24 hour service to maternity service users whilst on placement in
the maternity departments or community.
This Programme is delivered through Blended
Learning approach with all placements within South Tyneside and Sunderland
Trust but with the academic learning from Bradford University through distance
learning as well as 9-12 weeks in person on campus across the Programme.
