An exciting
opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to work within the Maternity
Quality & Safety Team leading on the CNST Maternity Incentive Scheme and
Ockenden action plan.
We are looking
for a confident, organised and passionate Midwife who will need to be confident
in providing constructive feedback, lead audits, teach and provide written
reports.
The Maternity
Services have an excellent reputation for woman centred, family friendly care
and provide a range of models of midwifery and obstetric care provision. These
include a home birth service, promotion of choice, continuity of carer
models, and specialist care provided by our obstetric teams for women with more
complex needs.
This role is
critical to the successful delivery of maternity and Trust corporate
strategies.
Main duties of the job
Supporting the
Maternity Quality & Safety Matron to co-ordinate patient safety and
clinical governance activities, deputising where required.
The Maternity
Safety Strategy sets out the Department of Health and Social Cares ambition to
reward those who have taken action to improve maternity safety. NHS Resolution
supports this work through the Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS), which
incentivises ten maternity safety actions across a range of areas.
The post
holders primary responsibility will be to oversee the effective delivery of the
Maternity Incentive Scheme and Ockenden response and action plan. However the
post holder will still be required to support general governance activity as
part of the Directorate Governance team, as required.

Support and provide guidance to all
staff within maternity service in relation to patient safety and clinical

litigation, incident and pals meeting, and when required deputise for the

expert.
Working with the Clinical Director,
Associate Director of Midwifery, Womens and Childrens Risk and Governance
Manager, Obstetric Audit Lead and Trust Corporate Governance team / Trust
Compliance lead to ensure audit projects are prioritised and undertaken in a
timely manner.
The post holder will have
responsibility for coordinating and participation in audit projects relating to
the NHSR Maternity Standards and the Ockenden report recommendations/IEAs.
Lead work stream that directly feed
into compliance with the MIS Maternity safety actions/Ockenden such as ATAIN.
Work with the lead clinicians for
clinical risk within maternity, Professional Midwifery Advocates, Midwifery
matrons, Medical and midwifery staff to identify clinical risk issues and
implement changes in practice. Provide
feedback on incidents and progress the implementation of recommendations from
multidisciplinary meetings.
Promote and maintain cohesive working
relationships with obstetricians, neonatal team (medical and nursing)
anesthetists and other specialists.
Work autonomously within guidelines
and spheres of professional practice.
Support the implementation of recommendations from Government and
professional bodies in relation to maternity care.
