We are recruiting a doctor with Registrar/ Tier 2level experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our current on a 1-in-8 second on-call rota supported by Consultant colleagues.

The elective work is spread across sites in South Tyneside and Sunderland. We have an established research department with a consultant lead and midwifery and nurse team. We are regularly in the top sites for recruitment numbers.

We have a strong training and teaching ethos and have consistently positive feedback from the Trainees attached to our department. We require a hard-working doctor who works well within the wider team of doctors, midwives and specialist nurses and allied health professionals.

You will see and plan care (supported by the Consultant) for in-patients, manage Labour Ward and attend Antenatal clinics including specialist clinics.

Gynaecology duties include care of in-patients, admissions to the Gynaecology Ward, perioperative care of patients and out-patient clinics (including specialist clinics oncology, urogynaecology, colposcopy, and Office Gynae clinics). The Outpatients and Theatre sessions offer an ideal opportunity for teaching on a one-to-one basis and all consultants are keen to participate in what they consider an important part of their workload.

It is a full 1-in-8 rota consisting of standard days, 12 hour long days and night shifts and is fully compliant with the BMA rules.
