Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Admin Assistant to work within the Paediatric Department of South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to join our existing team. You will provide admin support to the clinical teams, ensuring a first class service is delivered to our patients. The post holder will work within a small team of secretarial and admin staff ensuring all administrative processes are followed to provide a streamlined service to our patients, parents, consultants and external agencies. This role is a job share over two days per week (likely to be Thursday and Friday) although a degree of flexibility may be required. Main duties of the job

The role primarily involves dealing with email and phone queries, typing correspondence, managing patient appointments, alongside other admin duties which contribute to the efficient running of the service. This is a 15 hour post to be worked Thursday (9am to 5pm) and Friday (8.30am to 4.30pm) although a degree of flexibility can be discussed.

Applicants should possess NVQ Level 2 / RSA II Typewriting, Word processing or equivalent vocational experience in a similar role. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in audio typing is desirable but not essential. Applicants will need excellent organisational skills, a flexible approach to work and possess an empathetic nature to be able to confidently deal with patient queries. Level 2 numeracy and literacy skills are essential to the post and MUST be shown in your application, if these qualifications arent listed in your application you will not be shortlisted.
