This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern and fast paced Emergency Department while building experience and exposure in teaching. Sunderland Royal Hospital ED benefits from 24/7 Middle Grade Cover and Consultant cover 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This post is designed for you to gain experience in looking after patients as part of a diverse team in the ED whilst gaining experience of the provision of teaching in the clinical and classroom setting.
Main duties of the job
The Trust has Emergency Departments at both Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside Hospital with the department at Sunderland benefiting from 24/7 middle grade presence and 16 hours of ED consultant supervision, 7 days per week. There is a well-established programme for induction as well as Emergency Clinical Practitioner, Junior Doctor and Middle Grade teaching programmes. Each department has access to Point of Care Ultrasound machines as well as high fidelity simulation and training equipment. Clinical working time will be a combination of day, late and night shifts as well as weekend working. Applicants will need to have an interest in pursuing a career in an acute care specialty, have completed a minimum of 4 month experience in Emergency Medicine and hold a valid I/ALS. While prior interest in pre-hospital emergency medicine is desirable it is not mandatory. Salary will be dependent on skills and experience.
