Job summary
To develop and maintain an effective and quality secretarial service to a team of Consultants and other clinical staff, acting as a pivotal role for all communication with patients and professional health colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies as necessary, to ensure continuity of patient care.

Excellent Communication skills
To ensure accurate and timely exchange of information between Consultants, other medical staff and management.
To manage Consultants diary, rearranging sessions/rebooking urgent and routine patients to meet targets as necessary, especially where Consultant sessions are cancelled at short notice.
To deal with telephone / face to face enquiries as and when required
Effective writing/typing skills
To transcribe confidential medical correspondence/reports, lecture and teaching materials from audio equipment.
To draft/type correspondence notifying patients and GPs of test results and instructions on medical/follow-up treatment etc.
To allocate appointments on V6 in accordance with Consultant instructions, to ensure effective, efficient and good management of clinical appointments.
Willing to work in a busy department, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
To work independently and as part of a team.
To demonstrate the Trusts core values in delivering a quality service to both internal and external customers
