A (19 hours per week) vacancy within Radiology (Diagnostic Imaging) Interventional Radiology nursing. The Directorate also provides a range of diagnostic and interventional services for inpatients and outpatients within the South Tyneside and Sunderland area where clinical specialties require support from our expert Imaging teams.
Unique and exciting opportunity for a Radiology Band 5 Nurse to join Imaging department. Nursing support is integral to Radiology and you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate the highest standards of care involving assisting with pre, peri and post-care of patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures and tests.
Previous Radiology nursing and/or Theatre/Cardiology/scrub experience desirable but not essential. Suitable for newly-qualified nurses. Lots of opportunity to gain and develop nursing skills and knowledge. Support to attend educational courses and events within South Tyneside and Sunderland, local universities and even national training or conferences.
Our small friendly team of Radiology nurses provide a core service Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00. Also includes participation in rotational out-of-hours on-call service supporting urgent and emergency interventional radiological procedures. Some cross-site working required.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible in assisting to maintain an environment which is conducive to the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of patient-centered care.
You will provide nursing care for inpatients and outpatients undergoing exciting high-tech minimally-invasive techniques for clinical imaging investigations/interventions, such as angioplasties/fistulaplasties, stent insertions, embolizations, drain insertions, nephrostomies, percutaneous trans-hepatic cholangiograms, procedures requiring conscious sedation and many more.
You will assist the Radiology Nurse Manager and team to provide effective leadership and supervision to HCAs and act as a role model to student nurses within the Department.
Ability to wear lead aprons and protective eyewear is an essential part of the role.
