Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative registered Physiotherapist
to join our established and experienced Orthopaedic In-patient service as a
Band 7 Physiotherapist.
The focus of this post is to manage both the day to day operational needs of
the service and carry an in-patient Orthopaedic caseload. The caseload will be
varied and consists of both Trauma and Orthopaedic conditions with emphasis on
multidisciplinary working to ensure patients receive the very best care.
The Orthopaedic
Inpatient team has built a reputation of being a critical part of South
Tynesides Orthopaedic Care team and play and important role in the effective
discharge and coordination of on-going care. This is an excellent opportunity
for candidates with experience within an Orthopaedic Inpatient setting and who
ideally have already gained leadership skills in this area of speciality. The
post holder will need proven clinical expertise and advanced clinical reasoning
skills in the management of Orthopaedic conditions. The expectation will be for
the post holder to supervise and Band 5 and 6 physiotherapists.
The
post will be primarily based at South Tyneside Hospital however there maybe
times where cross-site working is required an expectation to work within
Sunderland Royal Hospital if required. This post may involve working in a rota
across seven days including weekend and Bank Holiday periods.

The main duties
of the successful post holder is the day to day management of Orthopaedic
In-patients and Orthopaedic Day Case patients, as well as the day to day
management of the Orthopaedic In-patient Team, including appraisals and
performance. As a practitioner with comprehensive practical
experience you are expected to deliver
and support your team in the delivery of safe and high quality treatment to
people with a range of complex presentations.
The successful
post holder will also be responsible for raising the profile of the service
through leading and supporting service development and networking, ensuring the
service is aligned to national, regional, Trust and professional standards. The successful candidate will be provided with
professional development opportunities. in clinical,
research, teaching and leadership skills.
