Job summary

We have an opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician Manager- Dispensary Services to join our in-patient Pharmacy team. You will be based predominantly at South Tyneside Hospital but may be required to work across all our in-patient dispensaries at Sunderland Royal and Sunderland Eye Infirmary Hospitals. The Trust has invested in modern pharmaceutical facilities including full electronic prescribing with decision support, automated dispensaries and extensive seven-day clinical services to enhance the patients experience of care by improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of their medicines utilisation. Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated individual who is team-orientated and shares our passion for improving patient care. You will need to be an experienced Pharmacy Technician with a relevant pharmaceutical qualification and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You will also need to be well-organised. As Senior Pharmacy Technician you will manage a team of Dispensers and work alongside our Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants to provide integrated pharmaceutical care for service users in the Trust to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines. As part of the Pharmacy team, you will be required to contribute to the seven-day rota which includes weekends and late-night duty.

  • Experience of supervising, training and developing other members of the Pharmacy team.

  • Demonstrable ability to analyse and overcome barriers in implementation of change.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and work as part of a team and to motivate and persuade, with a management style which values the contribution of team members.
  • Demonstrable excellent workload and time-management skills and the ability to prioritise personal and team workload.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer stock control systems and other computer software including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
