Job summary
We are looking
to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist into our Interface Falls Team based
at Sunderland Royal Hospital. The team
provides Occupational Therapy assessment in the community to outpatients that
have attended specialist clinics, or have presented at their GP, and whose
condition may impact on their day to day functioning and independence. Referrals to the team may include but are not
solely limited to falls assessment.
The team is
based within the Occupational Therapy Department at Sunderland Royal Hospital
where there is support from other specialist clinicians and team leaders.
Main duties of the job
The Interface
Falls Team sits within the Occupational Therapy Service which is part of the
Therapy Services Directorate within the Division of Clinical Support.
You will need
to be a proactive and dynamic individual who can work effectively on their own but
also be able to come together as part of a small team. You will need to have excellent interpersonal
skills with the ability to engage and inform your patient group. Prior experience of working in a physical
health setting with sound knowledge of adaptive aids and equipment is
essential, and knowledge of services available to residents of Sunderland and
the surrounding areas would be beneficial.
You will need
to be able to effectively document your patient interventions and compile
patient reports and contribute to the support and supervision of a technical
instructor and Occupational Therapy students.
This post is
full time Monday to Friday with a flexi time system in operation and is car
driver essential with access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of appropriate learning in speciality area (e.g.: short courses or CPD activities)
- Current HCPC Registration
- Comprehensive experience at Band 5 level as a therapist in the relevant profession incorporating experience within a range of specialities in a physical health setting.
- Evidence of specialist level knowledge and experience in Occupational Therapy.
- Knowledge of the speciality area
- Post graduate education/CPD activities relevant to the role.
- Evidence base in specialism developed from the application of post-graduate study.
- Evidence of maintaining CPD activities.
