Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Assistant to join our Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The Service sits within the Therapies Directorate, working closely with inpatient Stroke services, Outpatient Therapy and Dietetic departments, Social Services, GP Practices, and the Stroke Association to provide seamless quality stroke rehabilitation across the whole Stroke Pathway.

The role will involve working within a friendly, professional and committed multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and speech and language therapy colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You will work within the Team to support qualified staff in providing stroke rehabilitation for patients in their own homes and other community settings. You will also carry-out essential day-to-day administrative tasks to support the Team in delivering a quality service.

You should be flexible, with previous experience as an assistant within the neurological field. Training opportunities will be provided for you to develop and meet all competencies required for the role.

You should be able to provide evidence of a relevant structured learning programme such as NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or health-related/relevant topic; basic numeracy & literacy skills to Level 1 or equivalent; have basic IT skills and the ability to carry-out clerical tasks are required.

You should be able to demonstrate a high standard of written and verbal communication. You must have good time-management skills, be organised and be able to work as a team member or independently in community settings.
