Due to service expansion and redesign, an exciting opportunity has
arisen for experienced radiographer to work predominantly in CT, based at South
Tyneside District Hospital, although cross site working is actively encouraged.
South Tyneside District Hospital has recently
installed a 128 slice Siemens go.Top, and also has a 64 slice Siemens go.All.
Both are used for a range of in-patient and out-patient CT examinations, including
biopsies, colonography studies and cardiac investigations. Additionally, the
department has 4 dedicated X-ray rooms, 2 flurosocopy and interventional rooms,
and a peripheral site providing plain film imaging. The team at South Tyneside
work across modalities during the normal working day, however they are also committed
to maintaining the CT service 24/7.
Sunderland
Royal Hospital has undergone an exciting redevelopment of the Emergency Department, to
provide a cutting-edge environment for patient care, diagnosis and treatment.
Within the Diagnostic Hub of the Emergency Department is a state of the art
Canon Genesis CT scanner, this 320 slice scanner allows for rapid diagnosis for
ED and acutely unwell patients. There are two additional Canon scanners within
Radiology that are used for an extensive range of in-patient and
out-patient CT examinations, including biopsies, percutaneous cryotherapy, colonography studies and
cardiac investigations. The team at Sunderland is dedicated to CT only.
Main duties of the job
Both sites have
forward thinking, dynamic teams who offer experience and support. Additionally,
we strive to offer professional development opportunities; recent examples
include the Postgraduate Certificate in Computed Tomography, and Postgraduate
Certificate in Forensic Imaging. The trust also provides excellent leadership
development opportunities.
We are seeking
those candidates with post graduate radiography experience, including experience
in CT, to apply. We will consider a training post for a suitable candidate with
sufficient knowledge of the modality. Additionally, the post holder will be
expected to fulfil all aspects of the role of a CT radiographer, including IV
cannulation, working unsupervised, and training and supporting colleagues and
student radiographers.
You will be
expected to work as part of the wider radiology team at South Tyneside District
Hospital, including in plain film and theatres, however your commitment will be
to the CT service.
Additionally
there is scope for cross-site working with the dedicated CT team at Sunderland
Royal Hospital this will be discussed on appointment.
